In
1807 Scotland Island was named by Andrew Thompson after his
homeland. Since then the Island has had many owners up until the 1900's
when it was subdivided and sold off in lots.
There have been many colourful characters living here, the most
notable being the notorious Tilly Devine who was reported to have hidden
her ill gotten wealth somewhere on the Island.
Today the Island has approximately 1000 residents from all fields
particularly the arts including sculptors, painters, writers, actors
along with many other professional people who choose to live here to
enjoy the peaceful and inspiring surroundings.
Scotland Island Lodge opened late in 2002 as a boutique guest house
for discerning travellers looking for something special off the beaten
track in the heart of the magnificent Ku-ring-gai National Park.
Your hosts Rosemary and Colin have travelled and lived in many
parts of the world and recently returned. Whilst overseas they ran
a guest house in
the English Lake District which won many awards from the English Tourist
Board.
They look forward to welcoming you and sharing the magic of
Pittwater.
